building xvesa

i was able to build xvesa on stripped down redhat 9 system using
the instructions i found at:
http://www.rule-project.org/article.php3?id_article=51

and after 45 minute build inside the vm and i was able
to execute the xvesa server inside the same vm
at 640x460 and 8bits resolution.

some problems the server build had red-hat all over it.
i did and ldd and it linked to pam (yuck i fucking
hate pam) and linked to several other shared libraries.
this is no go i want the think to be statically
linked.
